John 12:26-27

The first image is based on:  “Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.A)” style=”background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; text-align: center; top: 0px; vertical-align: top;”> My Father will honor the one who serves me.”  One of my biggest spots of discomfort is being somewhere where people notice me, so I wanted to place myself on a mountain as I followed Jesus.  There are a lot of people looking at Jesus on one side of the mountain.  To me, this symbolizes my fear of people looking at you when you follow and serve God.  My lack of faith and commitment to God can result in pressure and being judged as an outcast.  On the other side of the mountain are fighters/soldiers getting ready to shoot some stones at us out of a cannon.  This symbolizes my fear of the constant attacks when serving God.  I didn’t spend enough time on this image and would like to dig a bit deeper to reconcile my fears.  I know that God brings me Jesus to give me strength and power to overcome these fears and I would like to convey that in my image.

The 2nd image is based on:  “Now my soul is troubled,B)” style=”background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; top: 0px; vertical-align: top;”> and what shall I say? ‘Father,C)” style=”background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; top: 0px; vertical-align: top;”> save me from this hour’?D)” style=”background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; top: 0px; vertical-align: top;”> No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.”   I am at the bottom of the image with a scale resting on my shoulders.  There are two buckets labeled fear and faith.  My fear is heavier and spilling out as my arm that is layered in watches reaches for more faith.  The clocks represent times in my life when my own soul has been troubled at certain hours that have called for action.  These moments in time are when the Holy Spirit moves me to action and it is up to me to respond.  Some important acts of faith in these crucial hours of my life are:
being an advocate
stepping up in leadership
showing grace to others
giving forgiveness to others
having difficult conversations
being a voice for justice
praying

  1. This was so helpful to me. Thank you for sharing. Fear is a huge struggle for me as well and this reminds me to let go of fear. And also a comfort to know other Christians struggle with fear and pressure from other as well. Thank you!!
